There’s almost too much to do in Freeport and on Grand Bahama Island. Swim with dolphins, dance by bonfire light on the beach, snorkel among beautiful reef fish, sunbathe, play golf, have a beach party, fly fish on the flats … this is only a partial list, so be ready to make some fun decisions!

• Visit Gold Rock Creek Beach for a lush and secluded beach experience inside Lucayan National Park, or mingle with other visitors at one of the resort beaches.

Port Lucaya Marketplace offers exciting shopping, in addition to the stores downtown. Leather, fine linens, jewelry, perfumes, cameras…it’s all duty-free, so your deals are extra-sweet! If authentic Bahamian arts and crafts are what you seek, head to the International Bazaar.

The Grand Bahama Island specialty is roast conch – don’t leave Freeport without trying it. You’ll find a big variety of other cafes and restaurants throughout town and the resorts, from casually chic locavore cafes to fine dining with an international flair.

• For local fare, try Da Conch Man, Banana Bay, Rum Runners or Bernie’s Tiki Hut.
